Decibel awarded Avaya/Nortel research grant

Decibel have been awarded a $18,000 grant to work with mulitple tablet computers as music readers and writers  in live performance  using wireless networks. This project will research application development and creative uses for tablet computing by extending current capacity to read and generate new music materials for use in live music performance.

The project involves the creation of 2 new works by Lindsay Vickery and Cat Hope, as well as a rendition of John Cage’s complete set of Variations I – VII for score reading apps on ipads.
